2.1 Technological advantages
Membrane bioreactor technology, as a new technology, has its own advantages. Below, we will mainly talk about its process advantages, firstly, high separation efficiency. Due to the characteristics of membrane bioreactors, they occupy a small area in the application process and do not have the problem of sludge settling in traditional sewage treatment. In addition, the high concentration of suspended solids in the mixed solution greatly improves the load resistance of the entire sewage treatment system, which can improve treatment efficiency and ensure a significant improvement in water quality. Secondly, it can separate wastewater from microorganisms. Membrane bioreactor can separate activated sludge from wastewater to complete the first step of cleaning. The flow area of wastewater is inside the membrane chamber, and the flow area of biological bacteria is outside the membrane. This achieves the separation of wastewater and microorganisms, thus completing sewage treatment. The third is to improve the oxygen transfer efficiency of the system. The aeration system of membrane bioreactor applies a new breathable membrane, which has the characteristics of low mass transfer resistance, high pressure resistance, and low susceptibility to environmental factors, ensuring the stability of the oxygen supply system. The use of this membrane effectively improves the efficiency of environmental engineering wastewater treatment. Finally, its sludge yield is low. The most important advantage of the application of membrane bioreactors is the ability to block sludge from entering the bioreactor. Although this step may not seem effective on the surface, in practical operation, the nutrient content inside the reactor is directly related to the sludge. Blocking the sludge from the outside can effectively reduce the remaining sludge production, thereby fundamentally reducing the sludge yield.
2.2 Technical Disadvantages
The advantages of membrane bioreactor technology are obvious, but it indicates that there are no shortcomings: the service life of the "membrane" in membrane bioreactor technology is limited, and its service life is affected by the severity of sewage. When the sewage is severe, the service life of the "membrane" is very short, and when the membrane is also contaminated, the water flow rate will decrease, which is not conducive to the progress of sewage treatment projects. So currently, it is urgent to solve the problem of the short service life of the "membrane" and maintain normal water flow. Relevant technical personnel need to continue researching and analyzing to strive for an early solution to this problem. The sewage treatment personnel of Dutch environmental engineering have tested and proven that purifying the raw water components of the sewage before carrying out subsequent water purification work can improve the service life of the membrane.
